Tell Me More About New Frontiers

New Frontiers is an Institute for Learning in Retirement, part of the ElderHostel Institute Network (EIN) and a part of the Association of Learning in Retirement Organizations of the West (ALIROW). Our "ILR" is an organization of retirement age learners dedicated to meeting the education interests of its members.

We are sponsored by Mesa Community College and our main focus is on non-credit academic programs developed by the membership and is open to enthusiastic learners without regard to previous education. Members take the responsibility for governing the organization and for leading the academic wpe1.gif (29174 bytes)coursework.

Our members participate term after term, year after year, getting to know one another as friends and co-volunteers as well as classmates.

Courses meet for about 6 weeks each semester. Some classes have homework, and members are expected to prepare for class by reading or research. Many classes require only your attendance.

We provide volunteer services to our sponsoring institution and to the community at large. We also offer an active and varied social calendar. Our social activities include such things as theater parties, membership meetings, Council meetings, coffee classics, field trips, ad hoc dinner meetings and monthly "out to lunch" meetings.
